“The Comic Tour” By: Savannah Zhu

It was late at night, Harry was on his way home. There were almost no other people around. Suddenly, a huge billboard fell and slammed into his car.

When he woke up, he found himself floating on the sea. He swam to the shore and found that everything here was exactly the same as his comics. He was confused, so he went to the police station to ask about the situation. Alan told him seriously, “You really are now in the comic world that you created yourself. If you want to go back, you can only change the fate of the vicious secondary character, named Anne, and make her a heroine, so she can be together with the actor, Jeffrey.”

He was thinking about how to succeed, then he decided to go to Anne first. He walked through the narrow streets with small stalls selling vegetables and small restaurants on both sides of the road. He arrived at Anne’s home where the roof was covered with wires hanging from the lamp post. He saw a girl at the corner surrounded by four burly men. One of the man wearing as white T-shirt and flip-flops shouted, “Repay the money now!” The girl replied, “Why I need to pay back the money that my father owed you. That’s not my business.” She yelled assured. Harry came over and asked them what happened. The four men dashed quickly.

After a few days, Harry found that Anne was a kind, hard-working girl, and he regretted giving her such a tragic fate. This made him more determined to get Anne and Jeffrey to marry. He sneaked into the campus as the first step in his plan. He succeeded disguising himself as an art teacher at the university , where Anne, Lisa and Jeffrey were studying at.

Once, Harry took his students to the beach to sketch the view. He said to the class, “I will select the best paintings of the five students, and then vote in the class to choose the winner.” He saw that all the students focused on drawing, except for Anne. He ran over and asked : “Why are you sitting here alone sand not drawing?” “Even if I Painted it, it will be a waste of effort. No one will like my painting,” Anne said helplessly. “I don’t agree,” Harry continued, “I found out that you are very talented in painting. I used to be a cartoonist, but before that I drew hundreds of manuscripts and was rejected by the publisher many times. So please believe that as long as you work hard, you will succeed.” Anne was encouraged and started painting.

On the second day, Harry showed the whole class the five paintings he had picked and covered their names. Most of students praised the colorful oil painting and said it was definitely painted by Lisa and all voted for her. When they got result, they were surprised to find that he painting was actually painted by Anne. She was happy and smiled at Harry. She was graceful to him for encouraging her. However, Lisa felt shameful. SO her friends tore the manuscript that Anne was going to submit. They also used coffee to pour her clothes and locked her in the bathroom. Lisa was unaware of these things. While in the swimming class, she saw Anne alone at the pool and wanted to apologize to her. Nobody but Harry knew what he had already planned. He splash to Anne some soapy water on the edge of the pool. However, it was Lisa who accidently slipped into the pool. Anne wanted to catch her, but fell into the pool along with her. Lisa thought she was deliberately letting her fall, and showed a disgusted expression, “I didn’t expect you to be such a mean person. Don’t pretend to be my savior and save me!” Anne couldn’t swim. She was splashing in the water. Jeffrey saw everything that happened. He jumped into the pool and picked up Anne and said to Lisa, “I am early disappointed with you.” Then he left.

Later, Anne worked hard to paint and wanted to be a cartoonist. Jeffrey was attracted by her. Anne wanted to completely get rid of her current destiny. Because Jeffrey was very rich, he could help her to pay off her debts. So they were engage.

On the wedding day, although Harry could return to the real world, he didn’t seem very happy. He hesitated and finally decided that he would stay with Anne, so he took Anne and ran away. Grid Table 6
